About Me

Greetings and welcome to my blog. I am a full-time mother and student. I have recently retired from a very fulfilling thirteen year career as a professional massage therapist. In 2008, I completed a program in Whole Food Nutrition in Encinitas, Ca. The main tenet of the this program was the third Hippocratic oath that reads: Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food. It was in this class that I began thinking about the idea of food being our medicine. If food is to be our medicine, then where is our food coming from? Good question! I should retire from massage and research food...and that is what I did. I am now in my senior year at the University of Idaho studying sustainable food systems and community wellness. I will graduate in August 2011 and apply for a master's program directly after.

I am passionate about increasing the sustainability and vibrancy of our rural communities and committed to small-scale local consumerism. Buy local and you will meet the most incredible people...your neighbors!
